Human rights commission looking to fill seat
BARNSTABLE — The Barnstable County Human Rights Commission is looking to fill an opening on the panel beginning in January.
The nine-member commission was created in 2005 by the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates to promote equal opportunity, prevent discrimination, investigate and mediate complaints, and provide a local contact for people to learn about their rights.
Interested candidates for the three-year term can submit a cover letter and resume postmarked no later than Nov. 1 to Barnstable County Human Services Department, HRC Candidates, P.O. Box 427, Barnstable, MA 02630, or send the information by e-mail to kcallahan@barnstablecounty.org, according to a commission press release.
The Barnstable County Health and Human Services Advisory Council will review applications and make recommendations to the Barnstable County commissioners, according to the press release.
County commissioners will appoint the new human rights commissioner.
