A High-Level Human Rights Delegation to Visit Morocco


Manama, May 19. (BNA) -- A high-level delegation from the Human Rights Affairs Ministry, led by Human Rights Affairs Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman, is set to visit Morocco from May 20 to 23, at the invitation of the Inter-ministerial Delegation on Human Rights there.

The delegation, including representatives from the Interior Ministry, the Public Prosecution and the Human Rights Affairs Ministry, will hold meetings with senior officials and human rights sides in order to be informed about Morocco's experience in human rights as well as ways of dealing with the Special Rapporteurs of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and discuss with them areas of cooperation, coordination and exchange of expertise.

Dr. Salah Ali is expected to update senior Moroccan officials on the reform and democratic development steps taken by the kingdom, especially regarding the development and human rights strides attained over the past period.

He will also highlight His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's bold decision to establish the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) to inquire into the regretful incidents that took place in the kingdom in 2011, Bahrain's acceptance of BICI's recommendations and keenness to implement them according a clearly-set timetable in order to meet the aspirations of HM the King, the government and the people.

The Minister will also inform them about HM the King's initiative to resume the National Consensus Dialogue in the political theme in order to reach more consensual agreements and ensure the continuity of the democratic march in the country.
