Iran’s Judiciary censures West double standards on human rights
Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani has criticized the Western double standards on human rights.
Larijani said Westerners use the subject of human rights as a “tool against the countries that do not depend on them.”
The Iranian judiciary chief made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Sri Lankan Minister of Justice Rauff Hakeem in Tehran on Saturday.
Larijani also praised Tehran-Colombo ties as “progressive,” noting that Iran and Sri Lanka enjoy close contacts in international organizations such as the Non-Aligned Movement.
He expressed hope that judicial ties between the two countries would further develop in the future.
Hakeem, for his part, lauded the Iranian Judiciary’s experience and its measures to prevent crimes. He pointed to Western governments’ criminal actions in the name of human rights, and called for further interactions among Eastern countries to present their human rights status to world nations.
