British politician Winston Churchill

WE ARE MIRED IN EUROPE'S PERVERSE HUMAN RIGHTS LAWS

thinking obsessively about our human rights, except when we find steam coming out of our ears as we read about arrested thugs bleating that they know their human rights.

The brutality of what was happening in parts of Europe in the Thirties and Forties was what inspired Winston Churchill and other democratic leaders to create the European Convention on Human Rights which was signed in Rome in 1950. It set out certain principles, including the right to life, the right not to be tortured and the right to a fair trial.

I cannot imagine any fair-minded person disagreeing with such proposals but over the past 60 years sabotaging manipulators have been hard at work. Behind the scenes, they have deliberately and malevolently changed the direction and purpose desired by Churchill.

As a result British people are rightly incensed that those who represent a terrorist threat to this country and who openly express their hatred of our society, use the Human Rights Convention as a justification for allowing them to stay in Britain. Then, to add insult to injury, they use our over-generous welfare system to fund their stay here. I have commented previously that the rest of the civilised world looks on in astonishment as it sees us allowing ourselves to be taken for suckers by our enemies.

This was clearly not what the well-intentioned creators of the European Convention on Human Rights wanted and, belatedly, some of our senior politicians are waking up to the dangers that have been created over more than half a century by the actions of the discredited European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

More and more this meddling body has moved away from the intentions of the politicians

More and more this meddling body has moved away from the intentions of the politicians who created the original convention. More and more it pries and pokes into matters which should be issues for our courts and parliament to deal with. It allows people whose presence in our country is undesirable, and who should have been deported long ago, to remain here and laugh at us as we provide them with life’s comforts.

Can we escape from this mess inflicted on us by Tony Blair? Not this side of an election I am afraid and, even then, only if David Cameron can discover some intestinal fortitude, get rid of the Liberal Democrats and secure a positive Conservative victory at the next election.

Enough of that for now, it is time to forget life’s problems and get stuck into some Christmas cheer. I wish you all the merriest of Merry Christmases, have a happy, relaxing and peaceful one and I look forward to being with you again next Sunday.
