ASEAN holds meeting on intergovernmental commission on human rights
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) closed its third meeting here on Friday.
According to a statement released on Friday by the ASEAN Secretariat, the four-day meeting discussed the implementation of the Priority Programs/Activities for 2010-2011 as a follow-up to its adoption at the recent 43rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The representatives also discussed the process of drawing up the Indicative Budget for the remaining period 2012-2015 to finalize the five-year Work Plan.
The meeting also discussed the preparation for the drafting of the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration (AHRD). The next Meeting of AICHR is expected to take place in November in Thailand.
On the sidelines of the meeting
, AICHR also met with the working group for ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism, which is an entity associated with ASEAN. The two sides exchanged views on the directions for their future cooperation.
