IFSU, CHR sign MOA to promote human rights
Lamut, Ifugao (21 August) -- The Ifugao State University (IFSU) and the Commission on Human Rights in the Cordillera Region signed recently a Memorandum of Agreement to cooperate in the promotion and protection of human rights.
In the MOA signed by CHR-CAR OIC-Regional Director Harold Kub-aron, and IFSU President Dr. Serafin Ngohayon, both parties agreed to promote CHR program through Human Rights Education in the region.
IFSU is willing to become a Center for Human Rights Education -CAR to be able to assist CHR-CAR in its human rights education program and to empower the people through human rights education in support of the Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementers, Inc. (PAEPI).
PAEPI has undertaken a project of facilitating the establishment of centers for human rights education in its institutional members composed of private and state colleges wherein IFSU one of its members.
In said MOA, the IFSU is expected to provide continuing human rights education to its faculty and students through any of its existing curricular and co-curricular programs as maybe undertaken in consultation with colleges/departments within the institution.
On the other hand, CHR-CAR will provide continuing capacity building on human rights education to the volunteer faculty and students of IFSU and train and accredit trainors/human rights educators from among the recommended faculty of center.
Also a signatory to the MOA is Dr. Angelica Baylon, PAEPI President, who was represented by Dr. Maximo Garming, Board of Director of PAEPI-CAR. (PIA-CAR) (PIA)
