UN rights chief urges Hamas to halt executions

The U.N.'s top human rights officials has called on Hamas to halt further executions of Palestinians suspected of collaborating with Israel.

Navi Pillay, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, says she is "deeply concerned" by the execution of two men Thursday and the possibility of further executions.

Pillay says in a statement released Friday that the fair trials demanded under international law before the death penalty can be imposed are "practically impossible in current circumstances in Gaza.
