Human Rights Activist, Mike Ozekhome Kidnapped
Confirming the incident to Channels Television, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, Mr Foluso Adebanjo, said 4 policemen lost their lives following the attack on Mr Ozekhome, who was taken away to a yet to be disclosed destination.
While expressing shock over the incident, legal practitioner, Festus Keyamo pleaded with the kidnappers to set Mr Ozekhome free without any harm.
Mr. Keyamo in a statement, described the kidnap as one too many. He adds that this also draws attention to the poor state of security and highlights the state of joblessness among youths in our country.
Another statement by Abdul Mahmud, President, Public Interest Lawyers League (PILL) in Abuja confirmed the development.
According to him, “Last night (Friday) news broke out that Mike Ozekhome(SAN) had been kidnapped by unknown persons as he travelled on the now notorious Ehor stretch of the Benin-Auchi motorway. And with the sad news now long confirmed by the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, there has been no indication of his whereabouts or that his driver who was seized with him.
