U.S.-Vietnam Human Rights Dialogue

The 17th session of the U.S.-Vietnam Human Rights Dialogue will be held April 12 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Daniel Baer and Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General for International Organizations Hoang Chi Trung will lead their respective delegations in the Dialogue. The Dialogue will cover a wide range of human rights issues including freedom of expression, rule of law, and freedom of religion, as well as other specific cases of concern. Promoting greater respect for human rights remains a key component of U.S. foreign policy, including in our relations with Vietnam, and we are committed to continuing a frank, results-based discussion with the Vietnamese government on these issues.
