Human rights seminar at RLIC concludes

The activities of the Arab Human Rights Day celebrations by the Ministry of interior concluded with a seminar organized by Community Policing Section of North Security Department in association with Human Rights Department of the Ministry of interior on Sunday March 25, 2013 in Rass Laffan Industrial City.

The seminar was held on the topic" Dialogue and tolerance in frame work of social responsibility of companies".

Head of research and development section at the Department of Human Rights Maj. Saad Salem Al-Dosari, Community Policing officer from North Security Department Capt. Mubarak Al Khayarin and C.E.Os of several companies working in the Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC) attended the seminar held at RLIC auditorium.

Maj. Saad Al Dosari said that the protection of the rights of expat workers in Qatar is considered as an important face of tolerance in the context of community environment as well as it is a model for the coexistence of cultures, different races and religions . It is worth here to mention to the role of the Human Rights Department in this field as it, in accordance to the second paragraph of the article II of the decree No. 26 of the year 2005 that stipulates the establishment of Human Rights Department which states "The Department will investigate complaints received by the Ministry of Interior whether through people or the National Human Rights Committee and investigate their causes and send the recommendations to the Minister, Maj. Al Dosari added.

"The Department contributes to protecting the rights of expat workers in cooperation with Labor Department , Search and Follow-up Department and National Committee for Human Rights and I would like to emphasis on the role of expat workers in the development and renaissance of our country Qatar on the basis of social and cultural coexistence of the population including citizens and residents," stated Maj. Al Dosari.

On his part, Consultant at Human Rights Department Dr. Osama Al Aloosi delivered a speech on the protection of rights of expat workers with in the frame work of social responsibilities of companies as as a promotion for the principle of dialogue and tolerance. In his speech, he focused on the constitutional and legal protection of the rights of expat workers by putting them with in the frame work of social responsibilities of companies.

He also pointed out to some of the articles of constitution such as article number 30 which states that the social justice is the base of relationship between workers and sponsors and article number 50 which states freedom of worship which is guaranteed according to the law and the requirements of public systems.

At the end of the seminar a discussion was held between the audience and the lecturers on many issues related to the work of the Human Rights Department , rights of expat workers and it's protection under the law and order of the Qatar and how to communicate with officials of the Department of Human Rights and Community Policing of North Security Department.
