CHR lectures Bukidnon police on Human Rights
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 16 -- Police officers in the province of Bukidnon recently renews it commitment to public service and uphold human rights.
Cabanglasan Police Station underwent a lecture on Human Rights Thursday, January 14, at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Training Unit (STU) 10 located at Damilag, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
This is in response to PNP Chief, Director General Raul M. Bacalzo call to the 135,000-strong police force for deeper commitment to public service.
The lecture, which was conducted by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), region 10, is part of the seven-day Training on City and Municipal Police Station Unit Training CL 01-2011.
Dr. Edwin German P. Solis, Division Manager of the Promotions Linkages and Development Division (PLDD); and Anna Liza P. Estacion, Information Officer II were the resource speakers of the lecture.
They specifically discussed topics on: The Bases of Human Rights Education (HRE); International Human Rights Standard for Law Enforcement; Special Thematic Discussion on Human Rights and the Different Rights of Women; and Laws Protecting Women.
As the PNP faces greater challenges in 2011, Bacalzo said PNP policy will remain guided by the Eight Foundation Initiatives on Training in the Basics, Procurement Review, Enhancement of Equipage, Police-Community Partnership, Doctrine Development, Reward and Punishment, Human Rights and Mentoring Leadership, as well as the operational imperatives on the continuing campaign against street crime, loose firearms, wanted person, and enhancement of disaster-preparedness capability.
