India sensitive to human rights: Thakur
Bhopal, Aug 12 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Governor Dr Rameshwar Thakur today said that India was senstive to human rights. "Our country is sensitive to human rights," Thakur said at a function here. The Governor, who attended the releases of 'Report on the Working of MP Human Right Commission' (MPHRC) and of a Hindi book 'Manav Adhikar: Kyon aur Kaise?' authored by Retired Justice and MPHRC Chairman D M Dharmadhikari, stressed the need to protect human rights for good governance in the state. MPHRC's recommendation should be enforced strictly, he said. In his address, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid emphasis on striking a balance between human rights and development activities. He said human rights protection existed in the country since time immemorial, and added that Indian culture advocates protection of all living beings. Though western countries are defining human rights in a new way now, these nations have violated it. The Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh had taken a lead in formation of human right commission in the country. In his address, Justice Dharmadhikari said that the MPHRC was formed in 1992.
