UN to Investigate Human Rights in Bahrain
United Nations, Nov 25 (Prensa Latina) The United Nations is preparing a team of experts to review the judicial system in Bahrain and check if human rights are not violated in that country.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) announced today that the experts will travel to that Arab state next week and will follow the investigations made by a mission that visited Manama about a year ago.
The group of experts will also discuss with the government the recommendations made by a commission that investigated the performance of police forces against participants in last year protests.
That investigation revealed that police used excessive force against demonstrators, part from carrying out torturing acts and illegal trials.
The UN teamâÖs program includes interviews with BahrainâÖs ministers of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Interior, human rights, Work, and Education, and representatives of different sectors of the society.
