Civil society doesn’t want to be a puppet for authorities of Kyrgyzstan – Cholpon Dzhakupova
“Civil society doesn’t want to be a puppet for authorities of Kyrgyzstan,” the head of Adilet legal clinic Cholpon Dzhakupova said at a workshop on civil society role, supremacy of the law and observance of human rights.
According her, non-governmental organizations are ready to cooperate with government institutions in the field of human rights observance. “We tried to build dialogue in regard to judiciary reforming but authorities turn this into a political issue and try to manipulate NGO,” said Cholpon Dzhakupova.
She noted that Kyrgyz authorities’ attitude to legal proceedings on April 7 events and 2010 June events undermines credibility of citizens. “In April 2010, the republic went beyond legal framework since then the Constitution is violated on and on. We don’t see real steps in reforming the judiciary and law enforcement agencies. The civil society is ready to cooperate with authorities but they are not,” Cholpon Dzhakupova concluded.
