Justice Ministry responsible for inmate swap: ICW
The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) claims the Justice and Human Rights Ministry should be held responsible for the inmate swap case at Bojonegoro Penitentiary, East Java.
ICW coordinator Emerson Yuntho said the prosecutor who handled the case could be involved in the crime.
“Verification when transferring a convict from the prosecutor’s office should be tighter,” Emerson said Tuesday as quoted by tempointeraktof.com.
After the inmate swap case in Bojonegoro was revealed, Emerson said the ICW had probed the incident and found two other similar cases happened in 2001 and 2002.
Last week, an inmate, Kasiem, who was sentenced to seven months in prison, reportedly paid Karni Rp 10 million (US$1,110) to occupy her cell in Bojonegoro Penitentiary.
