Council approves 11 for seats on new Human Rights Commission
St. Cloud City Council approved the appointment of 11 people tonight to serve on the city’s re-formed Human Rights Commission.
All members will begin their terms immediately, but the city is staggering the length of the terms. Any new appointments will serve three-year terms.
The terms of Alikhadar Yosuf, Martin Nier, and Judy Foster will expire Dec. 31, 2010.
The terms of Jason Lindberg, Nathan Meints, Tracy Ore and Rachel Wexelbaum will expire Dec. 31, 2011.
The terms of Ahmed I. Abdi, Mike Landy, Eunice Adjei-Bosompem, and Cara Ruff will expire Dec. 31, 2012.
The Human Rights Commission is being re-created after council members asked that it be stronger and work as an advisory board. The commission works in conjunction with the Human Rights Office, which is overseen by the City Attorney’s Office.
“These folks have stepped forward to be part of the solution,” Mayor Dave Kleis said.
