The Formosa /Kaohsiung Incident plays an influential role in Taiwan modern history as well as Taiwanese’s efforts toward democracy, liberty, and human rights development. Hence, the KMRT station near the historical site was decided to be named after this critical event. The public artistic work of the station above the ground was designed by a well-known Japanese architect Shin Takamatsu and its four "fan-shaped" entrances represent a body image and an evocation of “palming of the prayer." The underground counterpart “the dome of light” was made of color-glazed glass designed by Italian artist Master Narcissus Quagliata. In the Formosa Boulevard Station, the interchange for the KMRT's Orange and Red lines, we can profoundly sense and realize how difficult, arduous, and painful Kaohsiung citizens have been fighting for human rights.
Human rights are only actualized when they are achieved by others. And, one would accordingly live with nobility and dignity as well.
